''Shark Pants: A Collaborative Brew

Shark Pants is the collaborative effort of De Struise Brouwers and Three Floyds Brewing Co. On May 3, 2011, we traveled to the brewery in Indiana to create a 9% ABV Double India Pale Ale, brewed with medium crystal malts and a portion of oats, hitting a calculated 300 IBUs.

This same beer was then brewed at Struise when the Three Floyds crew visited Belgium later that same year.

Appearance & Aroma

Shark Pants pours a blood-orange red. It boasts a powerful nose of rich caramel—reminiscent of the brittle, burnt sugar topping of a crème brûlée. As you break through that sweetness, you’re met with lush vanilla and marmalade-citrus notes that round out the aromatic profile.

Flavor & Mouthfeel

The palate is defined by resinous, charred, caramelized orange that clings to your teeth, desperately sustaining a massive hop assault in every corner of the mouth.

At a staggering 300 IBUs, the bitterness is undeniable, yet it is expertly masked by a heavy, malty body that breathes the essence of molten Sevillian orange marmalade"
