"With his insatiable thirst for knowledge, our Pils receives one award after another. As early as 1975, Helmar Schmid, at that time head of our manufactory brewery, gave him the name Diplom Pils.
With over 120 international and national awards, this unusual awarding of an academic degree is more than justified to this day. In 2009, this special pils was crowned World's Best Pilsner with the World Beer Award and thus the best in the class. Thanks to our consistent demand for top quality, the award followed in 2014 for World's Best German Pilsner, 2016 for World's Best German-Style Pale Lager and in 2020 and 2025 for World's Best Classic Pilsner.
The Diplom Pils is today not only the most popular beer of the Waldhaus brewery - it is a real Pils classic."
